Alison has worked in Health and Social Care sector for over 38 years. Alison worked for 20 years at Hampshire County Council HQ in the Performance Management Unit. In addition to inspecting and  auditing operational  services she developed policies and trained  staff at all levels . After taking redundancy in 2010,  she became a Training Manager and Operational  Trainer  for a number of large  care home and home care  companies supporting homes and services  in Dorset, Hampshire, East Sussex and London.  In 2023, Alison went freelance and delivers a range of subjects to care and other  sectors. Alison has continued through her career to expand knowledge and maintain her own continual professional development.

Training experience

Alison qualified in training in 1993 and initially taught statutory topics including Risk assessments,  H&S, Food Safety and Nutrition to all care home staff . On leaving HCC she expanded her training to include Manual Handling of  People and First Aid and delivering induction and refresher training to all care home staff in her region.

Alison now concentrates on delivering First Aid from half-day to 3-day courses. Training to a range of different groups such as schools, care companies, offices, factories, security firms, golf courses, hospitality and health and beauty. Alison believes in keeping it simple no jargon covering the course in an interactive way using practical skills, quizzes and scenerios to help reinforce the knowledge and improve confidence. Alison can adapt her learning to the needs of the individuals and group.

Tony Bio:

My name is Anthony Davies (Tony) and I live in Whitchurch, Cardiff. I have been involved in training for the past 25 years, and trained in a variety of locations, eg Fire Stations, Ambulance Stations, schools, supermarkets, and even on a container ship in Belgium.

Previous to my training career, I worked in the Welsh Ambulance Service, on the front line, and transferred to the Ministry of Defence Fire Service, where I achieved the rank of Leading Fireman. One of my duties was to train other firefighters in firefighting and also trained firefighters in First Aid. I then worked in television, and at one time had my own radio programme. During the past 25 years, I have trained a large variety of candidates, from toddlers, young offenders, and (in a unusual location) one of Nelson Mandela’s bodyguard.

I am qualified to teach:

Paediatric First Aid, First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, Fire Awareness and Fire Marshall/Warden courses.

I find that my relaxed teaching style helps the candidates to relax, and when they are relaxed, they learn more. I have had candidates comment that they felt that I was chatting to them, rather than standing in front of a screen teaching at them.

I feel that everyone should have a knowledge of First Aid, especially children, and have taught at Infants and Junior schools giving them a basic knowledge of First Aid.

Over the years I have possibly trained tens of thousands of candidates.

Anne Bio:

Anne has always had an interest in medical and healthcare topics and started off with nursing before training as a Nutritionist, Holistic Therapist and Sports Massage Therapist.

She did her teacher training qualification in 2013 and trained as a Fitness Instructor in 2023. She therefore has teaching experience in a variety of areas.

Anne is a firm believer that First Aid is something everyone should know so she decided to combine her love of teaching with her passion for First Aid. She is able to teach a range of different courses and is also registered as a GoodSam Responder for the NHS so is often called upon to assist the local ambulance services which means she has experience in using her training in real life situations.
